In this activity, students have to respond, react, and make decisions related to Axis aggressions in the 1930s to understand the impact of appeasement and how it led to World War II.
In groups students discuss, debate, and then decide how to respond to 5 critical episodes of aggression from Japan, Italy, and Germany. They need to write a short 2-3 sentence argument announcing and justifying their decision before you teach them what actually happened.
In the end, students really see how appeasement played out step by step in a powerful activity students will love!
