All our videos teach through the power of story to make the history relevant and memorable. In this video-lesson, students learn about President Wilson's fight to secure the League of Nations in the Treaty of Versailles along with his other 14 Points. They discover the struggles Wilson faced at the Paris Peace Conference with the other Big Four and his battle with Henry Cabot Lodge and isolationists in the Senate and why America refused to join the League of Nations. It will get them considering the role America has in the world both then and now!
✅ The lessons cover state-standards while making sure the content is still interesting.
After the video, notes, and quiz, students analyze two political cartoons and two speeches- from President Wilson and Senator Lodge. They first answer some scaffolded questions to break down the arguments for and against joining the League of Nations and then students make their own decision if America should join or not to build critical reading and writing skills!
