An engaging activity to teach the women's suffrage movement and the Suffragettes who made it happen! This is a fun Women's History Month activity and it works great for the Progressive Era or even for the Antebellum Era.

For this lesson, students first get an overview of the Suffrage Movement and then choose one of ten "Suffrage Heroes" to research (there are one-page bios for each of them), gather evidence, and then plan out and design an "Action Card" or "Trading Card" to honor them.

In this creative women's history project, students have to consider the skills, strengths, and achievements of their suffragist and decide what "super power" they would have and design their action cards either digitally or hand drawn. It fun, engaging, and creative either way!

THEN, the really engaging part: After creating their cards, students go around the room teaching their reformer to their peers, take brief notes on the provided "peer learning" sheet (see previews) and have to form a "Super Suffrage Squad" based on who their suffragette would team up well with. Its a great way to make peer-teaching fun and meaningful!
