Civil Rights Roadtrip Activity

A great way to learn about some of the most important events during the Civil Rights Movement! Students love getting to choose their own cars, pick out a sound track, seeing the price of gas (and having to calculate the cost of gas for the whole trip) was in the 1950s, and even get to choose their staple McDonalds dinner since those were starting to become a major part of culture in the 1950-60s. 

Then students visit 7 civil rights destinations mapping out their journey and writing journal entries as if they were there during the event! This makes history come alive and become much more meaningful for students.
