Shihuangdi & the First Book Burning- History Lab!

In this history lab, students investigate the question: "Why did Qin Emperor, Shihuangdi, order books to be confiscated and burned?"

A book burning lesson plan that gets students thinking deeply about the education, history, and government.

I love this lesson because it reveals the overall importance of education, how knowledge is power, and also why history is so important! It also teaches students about how tyrants consolidate power - and the policies of the Qin Dynasty - hitting important standards but more importantly, inspiring students to rethink how they approach their education.
