"The Jungle" Meat Inspection Investigation

Regular price$3.99
/

In this mini-history lab, students act as government inspectors sent into Chicago's meat packing plants by President Roosevelt to investigate whether the accounts in Upton Sinclair's The Jungle are accurate, exaggerated, or lies.

They read two excerpts from The Jungle, analyze photographs from inspectors, an essay written by one of the presidents of the packing plants, and the Neill-Reynolds report.

In the end, students have to determine if there are serious problems and concerns that require federal action and make recommendations based on their findings.

An engaging history lab students will love!
